GET UP

Meaningful stories. Practical Exercises. Expert Advice.

A book by Sharon Neiss Arbess with David Newton

A Collection of Stories to Stimulate

It’s amazing what could affect you each day.
A post that you saw. The way a person stands. A test that you failed.

It may be hard to realize now, but the mistakes that are made in your life can bring incredible lessons that shape who you are today.
The choices that you make and the situations that unfold all occur for a reason. As difficult as they may be.

The end result is for you to learn from them.
The best part? You will be able to share your rainbow after the rain.

Each story can be related to any teen across the globe with a nod, a smile and an appreciation to what resiliency really is.

Sharon Neiss Arbess
Stories that Get it

Sharon Neiss Arbess, Author of the Young Adult Fiction novel Me and My So-Called Friends and CEO of Brave The Waves – A Program for Building Resiliency has opened up her “vault” of juicy, gut-wrenching, and humorous experiences from her life and from her imagination.

Each story can be related to any teen across the globe with a nod, a smile, and an appreciation of what resiliency really is. Most importantly, each tale is topped off with a lesson that demonstrates how you can Get Up and get through whatever faces you and even become stronger from the process.

A note to parents and guardians: You know the drill. The eyes start to roll the moment you begin with the famous five words “When I was your age.” They don’t want to hear it, especially from you. But they may listen to someone else. Here is your chance to explore Get Up together. And talk about it.

All names and situations and have been changed for privacy reasons.

Stories of any kind affect us physically, which leads us to encourage the reader to Get Up and do something physical after reading, therefore making the story more impactful and meaningful.

Words, in any form, can have so much impact on a person. They can create stories, affect your thinking and increase your knowledge, while having an impressive effect on your whole being. Especially on your body.

How do you feel when someone tells you how important you are to them? A warm hug and a feeling that you can conquer the world, right?

How do you feel when you see your best friend hanging our with you know who? Let me get that dagger out from your back while you sink to the floor. Stories of any kind affect us physically, which leads us to encourage the reader to Get Up and do something physical after reading, therefore making the story more impactful and meaningful.

It may be hard to realize now, but the mistakes that are made in your life can bring incredible lessons that shape who you are today.
